Every song that is part of the 2008 Weekly Song Experiment was recorded as an improvisation while adhering to self-imposed limitations. Each song was written and recorded in a small room over the course of a week using only one microphone and free audio applications. Each piece of music/song had it's length limited to two minutes and thirty seconds.
Week nine. As I started week nine I was sitting in front of the fireplace at my wife's parent's house and came up with the chord progression. This is one of the only songs of the experiment where I wrote the vocal melody after I had all of the instrumentation recorded and done.
I was developing strep as I was recording this and I think it's evident in the vocals. I would stay sick for nearly 3 weeks, which led to the last week of the experiment being an instrumental.

Lyrics
sit and think of days gone by...
sit and think of reasons why...
we were told we'd be strong again
if we came up with another plan
corduroys and a black t-shirt
was what you were wearing
when we came up with a pact
to never quit or look back.
now i know you were just lying...to keep
from passing the blame to me.
shady eyes with bad intent
check the bank but it's all been spent.
take the train out of the city to think.
wishing we could take it back
all the brow beating and attacks
never got us very far, it's true.
the truth is...
i don't miss you.
